How does it work?

Botox treats muscle spasms in the face by blocking the release of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. This is a chemical messenger located in the nerve cells that performs the function of transmitting nerve impulses to the muscle cells and causes them to contract. This results in muscle spasms as well as lines or wrinkles.

When Botox blocks the release of this chemical messenger, the muscle cell becomes weak and causes paralysis of the muscle which had undergone a spasm. The effect lasts for a few months until the nerve fibers regenerate themselves. The treatment is minimally invasive and precisely targeted only on the muscles that have experienced a spasm.

Other Uses of Botox

In addition to the treatment of muscle spasms in the face and other localized areas, Botox can be used to treat muscular spasms in the neck, muscular spasticity, twitching of the eyelid, and improved alignment of the eyes. Recovery and Risks

Complete recovery may require months of healing time, but the results will last long as well. It is not advised for those with heart conditions to receive this type of peel.

There is no down-time associated with this non-surgical procedure, and a typical laser tightening treatment usually takes about 30 minutes or less. Resurfacing

Palomar’s Lux1540 uses laser energy microbeams to create areas of affected tissues of the skin, which initiates the body’s natural healing process to generate new, healthy tissue. The fractional restructuring laser does its job after being split into 100 smaller laser beams so that the smallest portions of the skin are able to be reached. The specialized laser is able to resurface imperfections, while preserving the already healthy zones of the skin. Botox/Dysport/Dermal Fillers
