Acne scarring can affect individuals with untreated or severe acne in as little as 9-12 months and up until now has been permanent. Laser light therapies can now correct depressed scars from chicken pox, acne, or scars from trauma. New technologies allow for elastin fibers of the skin that are depressing the skin to break and release allowing for the skin to become smooth and without imperfections. These lasers also allow for new collagen to be generated which will lift the skin and erase the scar permanently and allowing the skin to be healthy and rejuvenated. Whether you have recently experienced scarring or has been a lifetime of suffering from these scars, laser light therapies remain the only option to permanently reverse the effects of scarring.
At VIP Aesthetics, we are able to offer (2) laser solutions to correct acne scarring. Option #1 is a non-ablative option that will require additional treatments (4-6) but has no down-time associated with the procedure. You will be able to receive the treatment and return to work or your normal activities the same day as the procedure. Correction is gradual over the number of treatments needed and is pain free without any extensive post procedure care. The second option uses a more powerful laser that typically gives the desired results within 1-2 treatments. This option is more intrusive and is an ablative therapy where the elastin fibers holding down the scar are ablated (destroyed) in one session. The scar is now free from being depressed and new collagen is created within a few weeks to plump the skin to eliminate the scar completely. Downtime after the procedure is typically 2-4 days and there are post procedure care that must be complied with. Typically smaller, less depressed scars are reversed using the non-ablative laser therapy and the deeper scars would require the ablative procedure.
We use the Pearl™ and Genesis™ systems of Cutera® Lasers, the latest in total laser rejuvenation. The Peal™ system typically requires only (1-2) treatments and the Genesis™ system requires additional treatments (4-6) – both systems are FDA cleared for all body areas. Results happen quickly and these ablative and non-ablative procedures can be used with other laser therapies as well to enhance the results.
