Juvederm is one of the newest, “next generation” substances, known as “dermal fillers” or “injectable fillers.” Because more patients desire quick procedures that show almost immediate results – with little, or no, downtime – Juvederm® has become the #1 dermal filler of choice in the United States.
Juvederm® is a versatile soft tissue filler that’s a stabilized hyaluronic acid ~ so it’s safe for treating and filling all types of skin. Commonly used for cheek augmentation, naso-labial folds, lip augmentation, worry lines, tear troughs, and on the hands, Juvederm® restores a youthful look and your skin’s resilient appearance. It is widely used in many medical applications.
Typically, dermal fillers last 8-12 months or longer depending upon where injections are placed, and the type and viscosity (thickness) of filler used. We use Allergan’s Juvederm®, Juvederm Ultra® and Juvederm Ultra Plus® products, and determine which one is right for you dependent upon the nature and depth of the wrinkles and areas that you wish to have treated. Juvederm® products have a higher viscosity and concentration, so injections result in a longer duration of treatment effectiveness. As a totally non-animal product in composition, there’s no risk of transmitting disease or of getting an allergic reaction ~ even in patients who are sensitive to common foods such as beef, chicken and eggs.
At VIP Aesthetics, we wish to always provide our patients with complete comfort, so you can also receive local anesthesia when we are performing injections to sensitive areas – but this may not even be necessary, as Juvederm® products already have a “built in” anesthetic (Lidocaine) component.
The duration of how long a Juvederm® treatment lasts can differ for every individual. Dependent upon various factors – as well as the employed injection technique – results vary based on skin type, age, lifestyle and muscle activity.
Juvederm® lasts for a long time – because the gel’s particles are not absorbed by your body quickly. The desired results you get with Juvederm® provides you with a lengthy time span so you can decide you’re when ready for follow-up or maintenance injections. Juvederm® is unnoticeably absorbed by your body. It eventually dissipates, becomes less concentrated and is replaced by your own, naturally occurring body fluid – to which it binds. Six months to a year after initial treatment for facial contouring or to plump out wrinkles, most patients decide to have follow-up injections – and following lip injections, the time period is typically six months.
Juvederm Ultra® is used for correction of more superficial wrinkles and for lip-area enhancement. Thicker Juvederm Ultra Plus® lasts a few months longer, and is for even deeper folds and lines. It can be used for volume filling, cheek enhancement, facial contour shaping, and for augmenting lip volume.
