BOTOX Cosmetic and DYSPORT are FDA-approved prescription medicines that are carefully injected into facial muscles. These products are used to minimize severe frown or laugh lines, and to improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles.
How do BOTOX Work?
Your facial muscles naturally contract under your skin when you smile, frown or make other facial expressions. This consistent and repeated muscle movement is completely normal, but it causes your skin above to become less elastic – resulting in visible lines and wrinkles. Botox® or Dysport™ can be carefully injected into specific areas to block the muscles’ nerve impulses from activating. After receiving injections, the skin above simply appears and responds in a more relaxed manner. Botox® and Dysport™ only do their ‘work’ when injected, because your muscle absorbs the injection.
What Can Be Achieved with BOTOX® & DYSPORT™?
There are two types of wrinkles: static and dynamic. Our static wrinkles appear whether or not movement occurs in our underlying muscles. Static wrinkles may or may not show improvement with Botox® injections. Dynamic wrinkles appear with the repeated muscle movement as described above. They respond well and show improvement with a muscle relaxation treatment (such as Botox® or Dysport™ injections) and in some cases, with repeated treatments, the wrinkle can actually disappear.
It’s also possible to achieve a “Chemical Brow Lift” with injections of Botox®, that raises and shapes your eyebrows. This results in that attractive, winged look we admire when we see professional models and movie stars.
Botox® and Dysport™ also work well when injected around the eyes and forehead areas. These products can also be used on the lower part of your face to improve the look of dimpled chins, neck bands, a ‘drooping’ nose, bulging jaw muscles, and to treat fine lines around your lips.
What can I expect from BOTOX™
The treatments are quick and virtually painless, and most people do not require any anesthesia. The entire injection treatment procedure only takes about 10-15 minutes with no recovery time, and there are very few side effects. You’ll be able to get back to your normal activities immediately following the injection procedure. Results may vary, but most people see an improvement within three to five days, and effects usually last for three to five months. You can repeat treatments for longer lasting effects.

1) We use a much smaller sized needle for injections, instead of the larger needles typically used by others. The special small needle we use is more expensive ($10 each vs. 30 cents each) but our patients’ comfort and result success is of great importance to us. The finer needles that we use cause much less discomfort, and reduce bruising.
2) We safely concentrate the Botox® and Dysport™ as much as possible to make the injections as minimal as possible. This method reduces swelling and bruising, and increases your overall comfort level.
3) We keep accurate records of the exact amount and the precise location of each injection of Botox® and Dysport™. If you love your results, we can reproduce them. If you have some concerns with your results when receiving follow up treatments, we can adjust the position and amount of the Botox® or Dysport™ that we previously used to provide you with a different, or better, result.
4) Your injections will always be performed by a physician or by a licensed, professional technician.
5) We will teach you what to do and what not to do after your injection to maintain the best possible results. We also provide you with a few pointers regarding sun exposure, skin care, use of skin care lotions, and we consult with you about other procedures you may have planned for the future.

Is botox better for migraines or dysport is all right too.
Daniela, both of those are good for migraine. We use botox most of the time for that reason.
